Family ranch on beautiful Texas Hill Country

We lease our own pastures in the rocky Texas Hill Country near Brady, Texas. We've owned and managed this land for over fifty years, and we lease each pasture to a single hunting group at a time. We know inside and out, and lease to hunters who appreciate the country and wildlife as much as we do.

Know the country

This is rocky Hill Country. It's beautiful, and hunts well, but it isn't South-Texas brush or a manicured quail resort. If you've hunted flatter, softer country, know that this is different.

875 acres of rocky Hill Country that we've hunted and managed ourselves for decades. It's honest deer country — good cover, good water, and a herd we've kept healthy through fifty years of deliberate management.

There's a very basic hunting camp on the place. Many groups prefer to set up with their own travel trailer instead.

Openings here are rare. We lease each pasture to one group, and the groups we have tend to stay — some have been with us for decades. In a given year there may be nothing open at all.

Send in the form anyway. There's nothing to pay and nothing to sign, we keep good groups on file year over year, and the groups we call first are usually the ones who wrote to us long before a pasture came open.

How It's Managed

How it's managed — and who it suits

Managed for the long term

Each year a helicopter survey and a game biologist set how many deer (bucks and does) may be taken on each pasture. Your group hunts the harvest the biologist allows, and that's what keeps the herd and the hunting good year after year.

It's low fence, so deer come and go as they please. We manage for a healthy, wild herd, and the biologist's numbers decide what comes off each season.

Groups looking for a long-term home

We lease a whole pasture to one group. You bring and manage your own members. We don't sell individual "spots," and we don't split a pasture between two smaller groups.

The groups that do best here have hunted together for years and want a place they can settle into for years.

Pricing

Pricing and camps

Priced by the acre

Our leases run from under 500 acres to around 5,000, so the total depends entirely on the pasture. The per-acre rate is a starting point, and we'll be up front with you. Please have your budget in mind before you reach out.

Currently around $14 an acre

Leases are generally priced by the acre for the whole pasture, and your group divides the total amongst yourselves. The rate moves with the market, and exact pricing depends on the details of the particular pasture.

Camps

Camps vary by pasture. Some have a simple hunting camp (plan for basic), and on the others you'd set up with your own travel trailer. Water and electricity vary too. Some have optional internet access. Cell service is spotty.

FAQ

Questions we hear a lot

Can we lease more than one pasture?: It's unusual as each pasture is sized for one group, but if you've got the people and the budget, tell us on the form and we'll talk it through.
Is it year-round access?: Most groups want to check feeders and blinds and bring family off-season. Let us know your needs on the form and we'll get back to you.
4-wheelers, extra blinds, extra feeders?: Note what matters to you on the form and we'll cover the specifics.
Deer only?: You'll have access for all turkey seasons as well as deer. All the hogs you can shoot during any of the above seasons. Let us know if you're interested in dove, quail, or anything else and we can chat.
Do you sell individual spots?: No, each pasture goes to one group, and groups fill their own roster.
How do you pick a group?: We try to find the best long-term fit. A group that has hunted together for years, and has references goes a long way.
